7 Signs You’re Experiencing Unresolved Grief
https://www.griefrecoverymethod.com/blog/2015/06/7-signs-youre-experiencing-unresolved-grief
As time goes by the intensity of your grief might lessen. You might be able to function more easily and return to your normal eating and sleeping patterns. Over time, some people are able to return to their normal routines, but that doesn’t mean they have recovered from loss.
Unresolved grief is cumulative and cumulatively negative. It’s affects current and future relationships.
After a significant emotional loss such as death or end of a romantic relationship, people alter their life choices to protect their hearts from being hurt again. Have you ever done that?
Grief: The 40+ Events That Can Be Triggers
https://www.griefrecoverymethod.com/blog/2017/06/grief-40-events-can-be-triggers
In 2013, Russell Friedman wrote an article discussing the more than 40 events that can trigger grief in our lives. While this was an excellent overview, much more needs to be said about this subject.
In 1967, Dr. Thomas Holmes and Dr. Richard Rahe, both psychiatrists, researched the medical records of 5000 patients to look at the correlation between their levels of emotional stress and their illnesses. They created the Social Readjustment Rating Scale, also known as the Holmes Rahe Stress Scale, which was used as a scoring mechanism, to rate the various stress indicators as part of their study. This list, commonly known as the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale, is considered a definitive ranking system.

Grief and Grief Recovery
https://www.griefrecoverymethod.com/blog/2017/06/grief-and-grief-recovery
Grief can be that “unwelcome friend” that’s always sitting behind you, whispering sad thoughts in your ear. Think of the many times when you saw or heard something that reminded you of a relationship lost. More often than not, it stirred up a fond and cherished memory. Then, just moments later, you began to think of things you had planned to do, but never did. You might think of things you wanted to be different or better in that relationship. You might think about things you wished you might have said, but never shared. That fond memory, and any happiness it brought to your life, is now overshadowed by that deep sense of loss.
Sexual Harassment Entails Many Levels Of Grief And Loss
While the greatest amount of coverage has been devoted to listing those who have been so accused, very little has been said about the emotional pain and grief that is felt by the victims. It’s certainly time to address that issue.
Disenfranchised Grief
https://www.griefrecoverymethod.com/blog/2017/07/disenfranchised-grief
It’s common in our society for people to rate certain things as “more important” than others. We see this applied to economic factors, food groups, financial expenses and even reasons to select a home or automobile. The number of issues for which rating hierarchies are established is endless. But there are some things, such as the grief related to any emotional loss, which should never be treated in this way.
Moving From Victim To Survivor
https://www.griefrecoverymethod.com/blog/2017/12/moving-victim-survivor
When you feel the emotional pain and grief associated with being a victim, it can be very isolating. It can be hard to imagine that anyone else has any sense of what it’s like to be emotionally suffering in this way. Sadly, the community of those grieving from being a victim is enormous. Please understand that in no way are we suggesting that you compare your level of pain to that of others. It’s simply important to recognize that you are not alone.
Does legal action make grief less painful?

Often, this legal action can result in changes in policy to save others from experiencing similar losses in the future. The question that is often left unanswered is “does legal action make grief less painful?”
Hurricane Harvey

At the moment that I am writing this, the headlines on every news show and Internet news site are telling the story of the impact of Hurricane Harvey on Texas. The property destruction has been horrendous. The impact of the resulting downpour means that the destruction will continue for many days to come, as swollen rivers, far from the coast, overflow their banks and cause additional flooding. It’s only thanks to people heeding the calls for evacuation that more lives have not been lost. The news outlets also remind us that this hurricane season is far from over, and that additional storms are tracking across the Atlantic Ocean from the African coast as well.
PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

It is a diagnosis. It cannot be made by a clinician until at least four weeks after that event has taken place. There are varying degrees as to how it impacts the life of the person so diagnosed. Many of the symptoms are remarkably similar to unresolved grief.
The Grief Recovery Method in Therapeutic Practices

The Grief Recovery Method is used around the world in a variety of settings. The presenters range from psychiatrists and psychologists to physicians, nurses, clergy members, funeral directors and lay people. The common denominator among them is that each of these people have found this method to be a powerful tool with which to work though grief in their own lives. They have then chosen to become certified to use it to help others.
Grief Support during devastating world events

To quote the co-author of our Grief Recovery books, Russell Friedman, “As members of the family of humankind, we are all affected. Sometimes the impact is in the memories those events stimulate in us about our loved ones who are no longer here. Sometimes those reminders send us forward in fear for our own safety or that of our loved ones. The events that we see and hear about in the news affect us all.” Even as observers to events happening elsewhere, we are impacted.
Las Vegas Shooting

It sounds like a scene out of a disaster movie, but sadly it was not. Yet one more time our nation, and the world, witnessed yet another senseless act of violence.
